Bungay Castle photo, Bungay Castle

Bungay Castle stands on level ground just off the market place in this attractive north Suffolk town. The castle was built by Hugh Bigod, Earl of Suffolk, in the late 12th century. Today the best preserved feature is the imposing twin towered gatehouse. Unfortunately much of the interior is in ruins.
